CV available upon request at linguaversogf@gmail.com

I am passionate about helping people connect with the beauty and richness of the Italian and European Portuguese languages (the variant of Portuguese spoken in continental Portugal, Madeira, the Azores, and their diaspora). As a heritage speaker with a multilingual upbringing, I developed a deep love for these languages and their respective cultures from an early age. This passion led me to pursue extensive academic training, including a BA in Italian Studies, an MA in Applied Linguistics with a focus on Foreign Language Pedagogy, and a PhD in Educational Studies specializing in Adult Learning and Development, focusing on heritage learners of Portuguese in New England. My postdoctoral research has further enriched my understanding of sociolinguistics, language identity, and the unique needs of heritage learners in the greater Boston area.

With years of experience teaching at various institutions - from the Dante Alighieri Society, to high schools, to community college, to universities - I have honed my ability to tailor lessons to students of all levels. Currently, I’m a senior lecturer at Lesley University where I have developed language courses on various themes, from language and culture, to cinema, and even courses on the local communities for professionals, continually exploring new ways to make language learning both effective and enjoyable. I’m also an associated researcher at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon’s Centre for Research and Sociology, where I continue to research, present, and publish on the Portuguese diaspora in New England as well as various topics on Italian pedagogy.
